WLAC Offers the Following Programs:

Spring & Summer Competitive Program

The primary training and competitive season for the WLAC team occurs in the spring and summer. This programs offers 3 training days per week, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. The program is designed to prepare athletes for a variety of district and provincial meets that occur on most weekends throughout the summer. Unlike the Fall and Winter training this progam is very event specialized. As in other programs athletes from other sports who wish fitness training are welcome to join.

 Fall Training Program

The fall training program is designed to provide a base level of training for athletes in preparation for the upcoming track year. Practices are held at CASS and Roth Park in Woodstock at 4pm starting in mid September to mid November on Mondays and Wednesdays. Athletes do longer endurance and circuit training to prepare for the up comming winter program. This is a program designed primarily for sprints, jumpers and throwers but all athletes are invited to train. Athletes involved in other sports who wish to improve their fitness for their sport are welcome to train with us.

Cross Country Team

This is strongly recommended for distance runners, especially those who are running X-country with their school. The team trains once a week starting at the end of August until November. This team operates primarily to supplement and compliment school training. Practices are held on Sunday afternoon at Roth Park in Woodstock.

Winter Program

The winter program is designed for all athletes and it operates from the end of November to the start of March. Training is done on Monday and Thursday nights, with competitive meets on weekends. On Monday nights athletes work on endurance through pool workouts (running in the water, the ability to swim is not required) at Southside pool in Woodstock, practices are from 6:30 pm -8:00pm. On Thursday nights the team travels to the University of Western to practice at the indoor track. Practices are 6:30pm - 8:00 pm

Minor Track and Field Program

This program offers an introduction to competitive training for elementary school aged athletes looking to gain some extra training tips before the elementary meets. Practices are held at CASS beginning in April on Tuesday and Thursdays at 4:30-5:30pm. Call for more details.

High School Season

In order to assist in our high school athletes training the WLAC assists the Woodstock schools programs by providing coaching and equipment. The high school season leads directly into the spring and summer program and therefore is highly recommended that all WLAC athletes participate in their high school programs.
